Piano Studio

One of the things that make the SCS Piano Studio unique is that we offer 45 minute lessons, compared to a typical 30 minute lesson. We offer lessons convenient for all preferences, during or after school. We also offer lessons to homeschoolers! We teach all musical levels, Kindergarten through 8th grade.

In addition to traditional piano books, SCS uses their own piano curriculum. This curriculum focuses on rhythm, technique, ear training, and composition, among other things. Each spring the kids are taught how to compose their own song.

We offer two formal recitals each year, during the Christmas season and again in the spring. We also offer informal lunch recitals. During these types of recitals, the piano students bring a friend and play for each other. We also offer a piano field trip, where we travel to a nursing home, play for them and pass out cards that we make for them.

For more information regarding pricing and other benefits offered, please pick up an information packet in the band room, email the bandroom (, or call the school office (661) 327-3927.

Because these are private lessons, the signups are first come, first served. We are growing by leaps and bounds, so don’t hesitate to call today!

Chess Club

You are invited to participate in Chess Club, an experience of a lifetime that will expand the way your student thinks. The club will unlock the excitement, adventure, and beauty of one of the greatest games of all time! For more information or contact the main school office at (661) 327-3927.

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading incentive program for students in grades 3 thru 6.  The purpose is to encourage students to read good books and to have fun while competing with peers.  A student participates by reading books from a list that will be provided.  At the end of the school year, participating students will compete with students from other schools in the area.  The competition is made up of teams.  The teams earn points by answering questions about the books from the lists.
